The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) is a network of world-leading research and innovation centres working with manufacturing companies of any size from around the globe. It specialises in carrying out world-leading research into advanced machining, manufacturing and materials, which is of practical use to industry.

BARA (British Automation and Robot Association) provides a voice for the Robot and Automation Industries, when dealing with government, industry, financial and academic institutions.

The International Society of Automation (ISA) is a non-profit professional association founded in 1945 to create a better world through automation. The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) was established in 2010 as an independent Research & Technology Organisation (RTO) with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry – often referred to as ‘the valley of death’.
It represents one of the largest public sector investments in UK manufacturing and, after four years of planning and a 16 month build, the facility opened at Ansty Park in Coventry at the end of 2011.
The MTC’s role has also increased to cover not only R&D but also Training, Advanced Manufacturing Management and Factory Design. It now has over 700 talented employees working with it.

Incorporated in 1987, the Processing & Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA) was born out of eight founder member companies.
In the two years that followed, the Association experienced a substantial period of growth, which culminated in the launch of first PPMA Show (1988) and the merger with the UK Manufacturers’ Association, PEMA (Packaging Equipment Manufacturers’ Association) in 1989.
PPMA now represents over 550 members and has become the voice of the processing and packaging machinery industry in the UK. We also support member companies at overseas trade exhibitions. Its principle objective is to help members to sell more products and services across a multitude of industry sectors.

Established in 1992, UKIVA promotes the use of image processing technology throughout UK industry; providing an industry voice and helping companies to gain a competitive advantage through seminars, conferences and technical information.
In 2009, UKIVA became a part of the PPMA Group of Associations and has a close affinity with BARA (British Automation & Robot Association) based on the combined use of vision and robotics within the end to end production line process.
UKIVA members and associates typically fall into three categories: vision technology providers, mainly distributors of machine vision products and technology; vision systems integrators and consultants, companies who specialise in designing vision systems for the manufacturing environment; and providers of solutions that utilise machine vision technology, organisations who use vision systems within the equipment they manufacture.
